Toothless Stats
It’s that time, everybody’s favorite time, yours and mine. It’s time for dental statistics! Ok, well stats about edentulous adults – people without teeth! According to the American College of Prosthodontists, around 178 million Americans are missing at least one tooth. And furthermore, it gets worse as we get older. Approximately 2.2% of American adults aged 20 to 64 years have no remaining teeth. However, this percentage increases significantly as we get older—around 30% of adults between 65 and 74 years old are missing all of their teeth. Factors such as smoking, lower income, and less education are linked to higher rates of total tooth loss. What can we take away from this data scraped by AI? That it is important to maintain your teeth as a young person, because what you do early in life affects your older self very much! People who are athletic early on in their lives live longer, and those who stay active live longer yet. Same with your teeth, early timely cleanings and filling of cavities and brushing and flossing will allow you to keep your teeth as you age. So, if you want be a hit with the ladies, or you want to avoid dentures, getting the peanut butter stuck underneath them when you eat…take care of your teeth, in fact your whole body, and start early.
